Лидер Революционных вооруженных сил Колумбии (FARC) Родриго Лондоньо, известный как Тимошенко, не будет баллотироваться в президенты страны.

Как сообщает Associated Press, такое решение связано с проблемами со здоровьем. Недавно врачи сделали Тимошенко операцию на сердце, а также диагностировали у него хроническое заболевание легких.

Ближайшие президентские выборы в Колумбии пройдут в мае. О том, что Лондоньо намерен в них участвовать, он лично объявил в начале нынешнего года.

Отметим, FARC заключила с властями Колумбии мирное соглашение в 2016 году: бывшие повстанцы создали свою партию и получили возможность участвовать в выборах. В 2011 году Лондоньо возглавил эту группировку. FARC вела вооруженную борьбу против правительства с 1964 года.
