У понеділок члени австралійського парламенту від Ліберальної партії проголосували за зміну партійного керівництва і, відповідно, прем'єра країни.

Про це повідомляє австралійський Brisbane Times. 

«За заміну Ебботта на Тернбулла на посаді прем'єр-міністра і голови партії проголосували 54 члени парламенту, проти - 44», - повідомляє видання.

Новим головою партії і прем'єр-міністром Австралії став Малкольм Тернбулл, який обіймав посаду міністра зв'язку.

Повідомляється, що свою посаду в кабінеті міністрів зберегла міністр закордонних справ і заступник голови партії Джулі Бішоп.

Нагадаємо, в 2013 році Ліберальна партія сформувала коаліційну парламентську більшість, що дозволило призначити Тоні Ебботта головою Кабінету міністрів.

Варто також відзначити, що Малкольм Тернбулл вже очолював Ліберальну партію з вересня 2008 по грудень 2009, коли йому на зміну прийшов Ебботт.
