Президент США Дональд Трамп отказался проводить праздничный ужин в Белом доме по случаю Ураза-байрама – день окончания поста в священный для мусульман месяц Рамадан.

Об этом сообщает Новое время со ссилкой на  ABC News.         

Первый обед в Белом доме по случаю Ураза-байрама состоялся в 1805 году при президенте Томасе Джефферсоне.

Традицию проводить ужин по случаю окончания Рамадана заложила в 1996 году тогдашняя первая леди США Хиллари Клинтон.

С тех пор администрации Джорджа Буша-младшего и Барака Обамы соблюдали эту традицию ежегодно.

Отмечается, что нынешний президент Трамп вместе с первой леди ограничились распространенным в субботу заявлением.

"От имени американского народа мы с Меланией шлем наши теплые приветствия мусульманам по случаю Ураза-байрама", - говорится в сообщении.

Ураза-байрам, известен также как Праздник разговения и Ид аль-Фитр  - исламский праздник, отмечаемый в честь окончания поста в месяц Рамадан. Один из двух главных дней исламского календаря.
