Компания Twitter за период с июля по декабрь 2014 года получила два судебных ордера и 89 запросов от Роскомнадзора о блокировке информации. В общей сложности было удовлетворено 13% из них — Twitter заблокировал три аккаунта и удалил 9 твитов,пишет "Медуза".

В Twitter подчеркивают, что компания отказалась блокировать по запросу российских властей некоторые аккаунты, критикующие правительство России, и скрывать информацию о мирных акциях протеста на Украине.

За второе полугодие 2014 года количество жалоб в Twitter от властей различных государств увеличилось на 84%. Лидером по числу запросов стала Турция (477 обращений, половина из них удовлетворены), на втором месте расположилась Россия с 91 обращением. В случае России рост обращений составил 184%, многие из них подавались в соответствии с федеральным законом 398 об ограничении доступа к информации, призывающей к массовым беспорядкам и другой экстремистской деятельности.

Также Twitter получил от российских властей 108 запросов сведений о тех или иных аккаунтах. Ни один из этих запросов не был удовлетворен.

Twitter раз в полгода публикует сведения о взаимодействии сервиса микроблогов с властями.
За период с 1 января по 30 июня 2014 года Twitter получил 33 обращения от российских властей с требованием ограничения доступа к тем или иным твитам и аккаунтам. 59% из них администрация социальной сети удовлетворила.
