Після багатьох акцій протесту в Македонії Євросоюз виступив посередником політичної угоди, яка передбачала дострокові вибори і незалежне розслідування фактів щодо корупції.

В лютому 2015 року в Македонії стало відомо про масове прослуховування телефонних розмов понад 20 тисяч людей. В організації прослуховування звинувачують правлячу консервативну партію на чолі з колишнім прем’єр-міністром Николою Ґруєвським.
