Крівеллі отримав перевагу в 20% над "лівими" кандидатами.

Пастор пообіцяв підтримувати закон, порядок, а також санітарію в бідних районах Ріо. Його перемогу пов'язують зі зростанням впливу політиків, які займаються релігійною діяльністю, на тлі гніву виборців через корупційний скандал.

Марсело Крівеллі - єпископ у Вселенській Церкві Царства Божого, яку заснував його дядько-мільярдер, головний п'ятидесятник в Бразилії.
