Суд у Стамбулі у понеділок, 27 лютого, задовольнив запит прокуратури на арешт журналіста німецького видання Die Welt Деніза Ючеля.

Деніз Ючель, який має подвійне громадянство Туреччини і Німеччини, добровільно здався турецькій поліції 14 лютого.

Через надзвичайний стан в країні підозрювані у скоєнні злочинів можуть утримуватися під вартою без висунення обвинувачення до 14 днів, поки суд не визначить запобіжний захід.

43-річного журналіста звинувачують у членстві у терористичній організації і поширенні пропаганди.

Згідно з турецьким законодавством, перебування Ючеля в слідчому ізоляторі може тривати до п'яти років.

Після невдалої спроби державного перевороту в минулому році, турецька влада затримала тисячі людей, зокрема журналістів, яких підозрюють у підтримці проповідника Фетхуллаха Гюлена.
