Прем'єр-міністр Великобританії Девід Кемерон прагне якнайшвидше провести референдум про членство своєї країни в Європейському союзі. Про це глава британського уряду заявив в ефірі ВВС, передає Європейська правда.

"Референдум має відбутися до кінця 2017 року. Якщо у нас вийде зробити це раніше, я буду радий. Чим швидше я досягну результату в даному зобов'язанні провести референдум і переговори (про новому форматі ЄС), тим краще", - сказав Кемерон.

Як повідомлялося, депутати Палати громад не змогли домовитись щодо законопроекту, який передбачає проведення референдуму про вихід Великої Британії з ЄС до 2017 року. В навмисному провалі законопроекту консерватори звинувачують колег з Ліберально-демократичної партії, які у відповідь на своє голосування вимагали підтримки так званого "податку на спальні".

Прем'єр Девід Кемерон обіцяв проведення референдуму про вихід Великої Британії з ЄС в 2017 році у разі перемоги консерваторів на парламентських виборах, які відбудуться у травні 2015 році. Раніше Кемерон заявив, що Велика Британія не платитиме додаткові 2,1 млрд євро до бюджету ЄС.
