Власники ресурсу вказують, що він працював в правовому полі.

"Не всім подобалася таке трактування законодавства, але ресурс завжди поважав закони України. EX.UA дотримувався авторські права, що постійно підтверджував швидким реагуванням на будь-які порушення на майданчику. При цьому, ресурс не схвалює ту систему розподілу і управління авторськими правами, яка склалася сьогодні", - сказано у заяві.

У заяві зазначається, що "останні законодавчі ініціативи в сфері нібито боротьби з піратством несуть всі ознаки нецивілізованого лобізму".

"Новий закон, який знаходиться на підписанні у президента, робить невигідним його дотримання: він буде діяти тільки проти тих, хто спробує йому слідувати. Він буде стимулювати нехтування авторськими правами", - йдеться у заяві, де вказується, що "вигоду отримають тільки іноземні компанії".

"EX.UA завжди ідентифікував себе як національне файлове сховище і відкидав будь-які "пропозиції" пов'язані зі зміною доменної зони і території мовлення. Назва EX.to/co/ru для EX.uа неприйнятна", - йдеться в заяві.

Керівники ресурсу попросили користувачів вилучити файли зі своїх архівів на 30 листопада.
