Ув’язнена азербайджанська журналістка Хадіджа Ісмаїлова отримає престижну премію зі свободи ЗМІ, встановлену в пам’ять про вбиту російську журналістку Анну Політковську.

Ісмаїлову нагородять премією Шведського національного прес-клубу на церемонії в Стокгольмі 27 квітня,повідомляє Радіо Свобода

«Хадіджа Ісмаїлова продемонструвала велику мужність у викритті корупції на найвищому рівні в Азербайджані», – йдеться в заяві прес-клубу.

Журналістку нагородять за «наполегливі журналістські розслідування і надзвичайну хоробрість».

Ісмаїлову заарештували 5 грудня за підозрою в доведенні до самогубства. У лютому проти неї висунули нові звинувачення у несплати податків, незаконному веденні бізнесу і зловживанні владою.

Журналістка заперечує провину і заявляє, що всі звинувачення є політично мотивованими.

Арешт Ісмаїлової засуджують міжнародні правозахисні групи, які вважають її ув’язнення частиною систематичної кампанії державної влади Азербайджану з залякування незалежних активістів та журналістів.

Ув’язнена журналістка азербайджанської служби Радіо Свобода Хадіджа Ісмаїлова у травні стане також лауреатом престижної премії міжнародної неурядової організації «ПЕН-клуб».
