Центральний банк Англії вперше показав зразки пластикових банкнот, які надійдуть в обіг 13 вересня, передає Кореспондент

На купюрі в 5 фунтів стерлінгів зображена королева Британії Єлизавета II, а на зворотному боці - колишній прем'єр-міністр Уїнстон Черчилль.
 
За словами керуючого Банку Англії Марка Карні, нові банкноти будуть чистішими, безпечнішими і міцнішими.
 
"Полімерні банкноти не пошкодяться, коли на них скрапнути бордо чи збити попіл із сигари, коли їх гризтиме бульдог чи навіть коли їх випадково поперуть в пральній машині", - сказав Карні.
 
Через рік в Англії планують випустити банкноту в 10 фунтів із зображенням письменниці Джейн Остин, а до 2020 року - у 20 фунтів з портретом живописця Вільяма Тернера.
