Депутат палати общин від Лейбористської партії Джо Кокс була поранена невідомим в четвер вдень в місті Бірсталл в Західному Йоркширі.

Про це повідомляє ВВС.

Як відзначає видання, інцидент трапився біля міської бібліотеки, де Кокс перед цим проводила зустрічі.

 

За свідченнями очевидців, невідомий чоловік в білій бейсболці сперечався з депутатом і ще одним чоловіком, після чого несподівано витягнув пістолет зі своєї сумки і двічі вистрелив в Кокс.

Депутат була доставлена гелікоптером швидкої допомоги до лікарні Лідса. Наразі її оперують.

Як заявили в поліції, 52-річний чоловік був заарештований.
