The Economist Intelligence Unit, дослідницька організація The Economist Group, вибачилася за фразу "громадянська війна на Донбасі", яку було вжито у дослідженні найкомфортніших міст світу.

На помилку звернув увагу постійний читач The Economist Олександр Волков і звернувся до дослідників із листом, текст якого виклав на своїй Facebook-сторінці, передає Європейська правда.

Волков звернув увагу на те, що зниження показників Києва у рейтингу було пояснено безладом, економічною нестабільністю та "тривалою громадянською війною у Донбаському регіоні".

"Чому ви описуєте тривалу російську агресію проти України на Донбасі як "громадянська війна" - точно так, як це робить московська пропаганда? На мою думку, тут ви глибоко відрізняєтеся The Economist, який вживає інше поняття", - написав Волков.

Волков також попросив пояснити, чому дослідники вжили транслітерацію Donbass за російським зразком, а не Donbas за українським.

Він також відзначив, що вживання російських кліше свідчить про те, що над оцінкою Києва у рейтингу працював консультант з Росії, відтак сама позиція Києва у списку не викликає довіри.

Представник The Economist Intelligence Unit надіслав Волкову лист-відповідь, у якій вибачився за використання словосполучення "громадянська війна на Донбасі".

"Ми змінили термін "громадянська війна" на "конфлікт" для усіх майбутніх завантажень дослідження та майбутніх звітів – ми сподіваємось, це буде виправлено сьогодні, як це необхідно зробити, у нашому офісі в Нью-Йорку. Ми також змінили Donbass на Donbas", - ідеться у листі.

 
 
 

Аналітик The Economist Intelligence Unit вибачився за помилку та назвав її "успадкованою проблемою": "Коли конфлікт лише розпочався, його називали "громадянською війною" та "внутрішньою війною" чи "не міжнародною війною" у багатьох світових медіа та міжнародних організаціях".  

Він запевнив, що використання терміну "громадянська війна" не було зумовлене зовнішніми чинниками, а сам рейтинг є абсолютно коректним.

Як повідомлялося, згідно зі щорічним дослідженням, яке проводять експерти аналітичного підрозділу журналу "The Economist", Київ займає 131 місце зі 140 у списку найкомфортніших для життя міст.

Відзначається, що за останні 5 років українська столиця продемонструвала найстрімкіше зниження позицій. Показники Києва у рейтингу знизилися на 21,4% через безлади, економічну нестабільність та війну на Донбасі.
