Журналістку китайського телеканалу сфотографували під час роботи: вона брала інтерв'ю під парасолькою і в сонячних окулярах, захищаючись таким чином від сонця.
 

Ім'я журналістки не називається, однак відомо, що вона працювала над сюжетом про відновлення міста Сямень після тайфуну «Меранті», пише Media Sapiens

. Її зовнішній вигляд сильно контрастував із тим, як виглядали волонтери, які працювали в Сямень. Фото швидко стало вірусним і викликало хвилю обурення та зауважень щодо непрофесіоналізму журналістки.

Телеканал «Xiamen TV» виступив із заявою про те, що працівниця була відсторонена від роботи. «Одна з наших працівниць не дотримується наших правил і не провела інтерв'ю належним чином. Це завдає шкоди іміджу [справжніх] журналістів і має негативний вплив на громадськість», - йдеться у заяві телеканалу. Дівчину відсторонили від роботи повідомляє BBC.

Згідно з даними китайських синоптиків, тайфун «Меранті» був найсильнішим за цей рік. Щонайменше одна людина загинула  в Китаї та ще одна - в Тайвані.

Залишається неясним, чи відсторонення призведе зрештою до звільнення, але цей випадок  сколихнув у китайському суспільстві дискусії як про журналістську етику, так і про силу обурення в мережі.
