Владельцы единственного русскоязычного канала в Латвии ТВ5 приняли решение о его закрытии из-за нерентабельности.

 

Как сообщает владелец ТВ5 - MTG TV Latvia, рынок русскоязычного телевещания в Латвии крайне насыщен, издержки на производство местного продукта очень высоки, передаетБи-би-си. Каналу приходилось конкурировать с ретранслируемой из России продукцией, не получая никакой поддержки от государства. Поэтому ТВ5 годами работал с убытками, и с начала апреля 2016 года прекратит вещание.

"ТВ5 15 лет создавал качественный информационный контент, мы высоко ценим работу всего коллектива ТВ5. Закрытие канала - болезненное решение, однако ради сокращения убытков это было необходимо", - говорит глава MTG TV Latvia Байба Зузена.

ТВ5 входит в пятерку самых популярных каналов среди русскоязычной аудитории Латвии, уступая место ретранслируемой из России продукции (Первый канал, РТР, НТВ, РенТВ).

ТВ5 является единственным полностью русскоязычным каналом местного производства. При этом отдельные русскоязычные блоки существуют и на других каналах.
