В Стамбуле убит лидер таджикского оппозиционного движения «Группа 24″ Умарали Кувватов, передает delo.ua. Человек, чье имя не называется, выстрелил ему в голову во время прогулки по району Фатих. Свидетели инцидента рассказывают, что убийца подошел к политику, что-то сказал ему и произвел выстрел.
Кувватов погиб на глазах у семьи. В настоящее время подозреваемый в совершении преступления задержан. Умарали Кувватов — известный в Таджикистане оппозиционный политик, возглавляемая им «Группа 24″ считается в республике экстремистской. 10 декабря прошлого года Кувватов и его соратники пытались организовать в Душанбе митинг с требованием отставки президента Эмомали Рахмона.
Однако из-за беспрецедентных мер по пресечению акции протеста, митинг не состоялся. Убийство Умарали Кувватова последовало за еще одним громким политическим убийством — в ночь на 28 февраля в России был застрелен оппозиционный политик Борис Немцов. Неизвестный четырежды выстрелил ему в спину.
