У штаті Вашингтон чотирьох виборців, які мали проголосувати за кандидата в президенти США від Демократичної партії Хілларі Клінтон, однак віддали свої голоси іншим кандидатам, оштрафують на тисячу доларів.

Як повідомляється, під час виборів більшість жителів цього штату проголосували за Клінтон, що дозволило їй отримати всі 12 голосів вибірників, які, згідно з місцевим законом, підписали зобов'язання голосувати за того кандидата, якого висунула їх партія.

У свою чергу четверо з них, незважаючи на це, не віддали свій голос за кандидата від демократів.

При цьому кількість виборців, які відмовилися голосувати за того кандидата, якого обрав їх штат під час виборів 2016-го стало рекордним за останні 200 років.

Так, в загальній складності їх налічується сім осіб.
