Президент-втікач Віктор Янукович заявив, що в період, коли розгорталася «Революція гідності», у середині його партії діяли «опозиціонери», які виконували накази олігархів та працювали проти ідей «Партії регіонів». Про це він сказав під час відеодопиту в Ростовському обласному суді.

«На той момент ми вже знали про те, що всередині Партії регіонів знаходилися так звані засланці, які отримували та виконували накази олігархів. Вони почали перетворювати мою партію в опозицію. Це було неодноразово. Їхня позиція була приблизно такою, як скаже мій господар, так і я зроблю», - каже Янукович.

В той самий час він зазначив, що говорить не про малу групу, а про справжній клан, яким командувати почав Сергій Тігіпко. «І він говорив мені, що згоден з моєю позицією, але його схиляє Фірташ. З ним разом був і Льовочкін, який також переслідував власні мотиви. Розхитування привело до логічного завершення – вони зруйнували коаліцію і створили в країні ті події, які ми всі бачили і дехто приймав у них участь», - розповів екс-президент. 22-го лютого, за словами Януковича, була перетнута межа закону, і ВРУ почала приймати антиконституційні рішення, призначивши керівника Ради.
