Спершу сервіс запустять у США. Підписка на один місяць коштуватиме 35 доларів і нею зможуть користуватись шість різних акаунтів. У пакеті буде доступно до 40 американських каналів, як кабельних, так і ефірних. Підписка також включає в себе контент YouTube Red, який виробляють популярні відеоблогери. За даними Bloomberg, компанія Google, якій належить YouTube, вже давно працювала над створенням цього сервісу та вела переговори з телеканалами щодо співпраці у поширенні їхнього контенту через свою онлайн-платформу. Сервіс ще не запущений повноцінно - поки бажаючим пропонують підписатися на сповіщення.
Користувачі також зможуть записувати через YouTubeTV будь-яку кількість ефірних програм для подальшого перегляду. Компанія поки не повідомляла, чи збирається запускати сервіс за межами США. Наприклад, YouTube Red доступнийі в Австралії, Мексиці, Новій Зеландії та Південній Кореї.
