Президент Єврокомісії Жан-Клод Юнкер не буде балотуватися на другий термін і залишить свою посаду після того, як завершаться його повноваження.

Про це Юнкер заявив в інтерв’ю Deutschlandfunk.

Юнкер сказав, що у нього була "прекрасна виборча кампанія" в 2014 році, "але другої не буде, тому що я не виставлятиму свою кандидатуру на другий термін".

При цьому Юнкер зазначив, що ще під час передвиборної кампанії 2014-го помітив, що в ЄС бракує "принципової згоди" щодо того, що має робити спільнота. За його словами, одні країни-члени хотіли б "більше Європи", у той час як інші вважають, що "Європи уже забагато".

62-річний Юнкер обійняв свою посаду у листопаді 2014 року. Термін його повноважень триває п'ять років і закінчиться у 2019-му.
