В последнее время издательство стало использовать сервис Amazon Polly для конвертации текстов в аудио, как заметили DIGIDAY. Аудио начитывает робот Эми, конвертация занимает от одной до трёх секунд. Обычно для этого выбираются длинные тексты, например, биография известного американского боксёра Джейка ЛаМотта, или подробные исследования на тему почему Лиссабон стал столь популярен среди туристов, сообщает sostav.ru

На настоящий момент издательство сделало доступными аудио-материалы только для 10% своих подписчиков. (Чтение материалов издания на сайте без оформленной подписки невозможно. Подписка стоит от 1 долл до 19,5 евро в неделю). Оставшиеся 90% подписчиков получат доступ к аудио до конца текущего года. Все аудио хранятся в специальном web-приложениииздательства.

Работа с сервисом Amazon Polly, преобразующем тексты в живую речь, требует доработок. Например, слово «Трамп» (англ.trump – превосходить, перевешивать, козырять) робот Эми воспринимает как соответствующий глагол, а не фамилию нынешнего Президента США. Сокращение «m» авторский коллектив издания традиционно понимает как «миллион», а не «метр» как робот. Подобные недоработки приходится исправлять вручную.
