Клуб Национальной хоккейной лиги Washington Capitals изменил свой логотип в знак солидарности с ЛГБТ-сообществом. Теперь на хоккейной клюшке изображен радужный флаг.
Таким образом команда поддержала акцию организации SMYAL, которая борется за права сексуальных меньшинств. Ежегодно организация проводит аукцион для спортивных фанатов, на котором представлены различные атрибуты, в том числе мячи, шайбы, футболки и майки лучших игроков с их автографами, завернутые в радужную ленту.
На месяц клуб сменил аватарки в соцсетях. На них присутствует символика ЛГБТ — радужный флаг. Традиционно его полотно состоит из шести продольных полос, цвета которых идут в соответствии с природным порядком радуги сверху вниз.
