Фасад будівлі Міністерства оборони України сьогодні прикрашає прапор, який вручну пошили і подарували волонтери, повідомив Міністр оборони України Степан Полторак.
"На честь свята фасад будівлі Міністерства оборони України прикрасив найбільший прапор, зшитий власноруч і подарований волонтерами. Його довжина майже 11 метрів, ширина - 6", - написав Полторак.
Нагадаємо, що сьогодні в Україні святкують День Захисника країни.
Свято встановлено 14 жовтня 2014 року указом президента України Петра Порошенка з метою "вшанування мужності і героїзму захисників незалежності і територіальної цілісності України, військових традицій і перемог українського народу, сприяння подальшому зміцненню патріотичного духу в суспільстві і на підтримку громадської ініціативи".
День захисника України відзначають на церковне свято Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці, яке, як відомо, було одним з головних свят українських козаків.
Охороняти порядок у Києві під час святкування Дня захисника України будуть близько 4-х тисяч співробітників правоохоронних органів.
Секретар Ради національної безпеки і оборони України Олександр Турчинов з нагоди Дня Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці та Дня захисника України привітав захисників держави зі святом і зазначив, що українська армія нині стає однією з найбільш боєздатних у Європі.
