Постеры представляют собой эклектический микс от разных авторов.

Всего было создано 20 постеров от 19 художников для Олимпийских игр и восемь для Паралимпийских. Среди авторов – современный британский художник Крис Офили, мангака Наоки Урасава, иллюстратор Филипп Вайсбеккер, художница и фотограф Вивиан Сассен. Дизайнер логотипов Олимпиады 2020 Асао Токоло создал два постера, один для Олимпийских игр, один для Паралимпийских.
