Спочатку Джейку Картеру дали умовний термін і судом заборонили сідати на велосипед, бо він скоїв кілька травматичних наїздів на пішоходів. Джейк повинен був регулярно приходити в поліцію і відзначатись в сержанта. Чоловік на першу з поліцейським зустріч приїхав на велосипеді. Його посадили на 11 місяців у вʼязницю. 

«Картер продемонстрував повну відсутність поваги до свого наказу про злочинну поведінку, порушивши його протягом кількох днів після його видання. Цей наказ було видано, щоб захистити людей від дій Картера та обмежити його здатність спричиняти подальше лихо для громадськості», - сказав сержант Томас.
