Українська асоціація футболу надіслала листа генсекретарю FIFA Матіасу Графстрьому й генсекретарю УЄФА Теодору Теодорідісу, у якому наголосили на неприпустимості такої помилки:
Це абсолютно неприйнятно й виглядає як непослідовна позиція FIFA та УЄФА щодо описаного вище надважливого питання, зважаючи на триваючу руйнівну загарбницьку війну, розв'язану Росією проти України.
А речник МЗС України Георгій Тихий закликав FIFA перепросити за «перекроєні міжнародні кордони».
Федерація у прямому ефірі представляла на мапі країни, які будуть розведені в жеребкуванні і не зможуть грати одна проти одної. Україну та Білорусь позначили темнішим кольором, але без тимчасово окупованого півострова.
