Американське космічне агентство NASA в честь святкування Дня Землі підготувало чудову галерею знімків нашої планети,повідомляє ZN.ua.

Світ відзначає День Землі 22 квітня. Ця громадянська ініціатива покликана спонукати людей бути уважнішими до тендітного і вразливого навколишнього середовища на планеті Земля.

Перша акція цього дня пройшла в 1970 році в США. Її успіх окрилив організаторів, і з того часу святкування стало регулярним.

До 20-річчя Дня Землі було присвячене спільне сходження на Еверест альпіністів СРСР, США і Китаю.

У 2009 році Генеральна Асамблея ООН проголосила Міжнародний день Матері-Землі, ухваливши відзначати його 22 квітня.
