Главный редактор и издатель французского сатирического еженедельника Charlie Hebdo Лоран Суриссо (Laurent Sourisseau) заявил, что издание больше не будет публиковать карикатуры на пророка Мухаммеда.

«Мы использовали карикатуры на пророка, чтобы защитить принципы свободы самовыражения», — пояснил Суриссо. По его словам, сотрудники издания сделали свою работу — отстояли право на сатирические рисунки. Художник, известный под псевдонимом Рисс (Riss), отметил, что целью изображений на религиозную тему не была критика ислама, сообщает Лента.ру

Ранее главный карикатурист Charlie Hebdo Реналь Люзье (Renald Luzier), который в мае подал в отставку, заявил, что карикатуры на пророка Мухаммеда больше ему не интересны. «Я устал от этого, как устал рисовать бывшего президента Франции Николя Саркози. Я не собираюсь тратить свою жизнь на их карикатуры», — подчеркнул он.
