Конституційний суд ФРН у німецькому Карлсруе 1 березня розпочав розгляд справи про заборону Націонал-демократичної партії Німеччині.

Перед початком засідання адвокати позивача (НДПН) заявили відвід кандидатур двох суддів.

Слухання за позовом бундесрату проти партії відбудуться з 1 по 3 березня.

Представництва 16 федеральних земель подали петицію про заборону партії ще в грудні 2013 року. В ній на 270 сторінках вказується на явну подібність НДПН до нацистської партії Гітлера, зокрема в питанні расової ненависті і антисемітизму.

Це друга спроба заборони НДПН, в Німеччині називають неонацистською. Попередня була зроблена в 2003 році, також на запит бундесрату (в 2001 році), урядом канцлера Герхарда Шредера. Проте тоді Конституційний суд вирішив закрити справу після того, як спливли факти про те, що керівні позиції у партії займали таємні співробітники або інформатори федерального відомства з охорони Конституції, того самого, яке визначає НДПН як партію правоекстремістську. 

НДПН була заснована в 1964 році. Підтримка її серед населення не досягає і півтора відсотка. Проте ситуація з величезним припливом біженців спричинила зростання популярності подібних політсил у деякої частини населення. 

В історії ФРН це не перший випадок заборони політичної партії. У 1956 в Західній Німеччині була заборонена Компартія.
