Бразильский сенат проголосовал за начало процедуры импичмента временно отстраненной от должности президента Дилмы Русеф. Решение было принято простым большинством: 59 депутатов проголосовали за, 21 высказался против, пишет ВВС

Обсуждение импичмента Русеф началось вечером во вторник и продлилось большую часть ночи. Предметом голосования был доклад сенатора Антониу Анастасиа, в котором он изложил обвинения против Русеф и аргументы в пользу импичмента.

На открытии дебатов глава Верховного суда страны Рикардо Левандовски назвал импичмент "одной из самых серьезных конституционных процедур".

Решение сената поддержать импичмент было ожидаемо. Такую рекомендацию дал комитет по вопросу импичмента палаты во вторник вечером.

Прослушав доклад Анастасиа, 14 членов комитета из 21 высказались за отстраненние президента, против - пятеро.

Дилму Русеф обвиняют в сокрытии истинного размера дефицита бюджета страны во время ее избирательной кампании в 2014 году.

Одновременно с этим с 2014 года в Бразилии идет расследование коррупционных схем в контролируемой государством компании Petrobras.

Сама Русеф заявляет, что невиновна, а своих противников обвиняет в политическом мошенничестве.

Процедура импичмента может продлиться 180 дней, после чего состоится голосование.

Если в этом голосовании две трети сенаторов проголосуют за отставку президента, она будет отстранена от должности.
