Одна з найбільших газет Норвегії Aftenposten опублікувала на першій шпальті звернення до генерального директора Facebook Марка Цукерберга.

Газета розкритикувала соціальну мережу за політику цензури, оскільки адміністрація Facebook зажадала видалити зі сторінки видання знамениту фотографію Ніка Ута часів В'єтнамської війни, так як на знімку зображена гола дівчинка, повідомляє Media Sapiens

Головний редактор газети Еспен Егіл Хансен (Espen Egil Hansen) пояснює, що журналіст видання розмістив на Facebook видатну фотографію американського репортера Ніка Ута «Жах війни», на якій зображені діти, які втікають від напалмового бомбардування.

Незабаром після цього представники адміністрації мережі зажадали від журналіста видалити фото або зробити його відповідним цензурі, оскільки на ньому зображена гола дівчинка. Менше ніж через добу матеріал був видалений примусово, а обліковий запис співробітника газети, який розмістив на своїй сторінці критичний пост, заблокований на 24 години. Згодом під блокування потрапив і обліковий запис редактора норвезької інтернет-газети Nettavisen, який написав про це колонку.

Еспен Егіл Хансен написав у своєму зверненні до Марка Цукерберга, що він став одним із найвпливовіших редакторів світу, але зловживає своєю владою. «Я засмучений, розчарований - насправді навіть наляканий - тим, що ви збираєтеся зробити з основою нашого демократичного суспільства», - написав редактор. Він також заявив, що Aftenposten продовжить публікувати інформацію, яка може бути для когось неприємною.

На думку Хансена, розроблені Facebook алгоритми цензурування контенту, які «не відрізняють документалістику від дитячої порнографії», не повинні впливати на редакційну політику ЗМІ по всьому світу.

Нагадаємо, у червні цього року компанія Facebook оголосила про зміни в алгоритмі формування стрічки новин соцмережі. У Facebook попередили, що через зміни в алгоритмі трафік та охоплення аудиторії деяких сторінок може впасти.

Раніше MediaSapiens публікував погляд Nieman Lab про те, як новий алгоритм формування стрічки новин Facebook може вплинути на ЗМІ.

Financial Times також писав про значну втрату охоплення аудиторії зі сторнони медіакомпаній після зміни алгоритму. Кількість переглядів кожного окремого матеріалу, опублікованого на офіційних сторінках компаній, впала з початку року на 42%.
