Після перемоги на виборах президента Володимир Путін повинен буде розпустити уряд і запропонувати парламенту нового кандидата на посаду глави уряду.

Джерела агентства  вказують, що наближення виборів спровокувало пожвавлення лобістів, які виступають за заміну нинішнього прем'єра Дмитра Медведєва більш сильним керівником, який зможе «вдихнути нове життя економіку країни, яка захлинається».

Так, ймовірними кандидатами на пост прем'єр-міністра джерела називають голови Банку Росії Ельвіру Набіулліну, мера Москви Сергія Собяніна і главу Мінпромторгу Дениса Мантурова.

Сам Путін про свій вибір поки що не повідомив.

Нагадаємо, президент Росії Володимир Путін заявив, що досі не вирішив, чи буде він балотуватися на черговий, тобто четвертий президентський термін.
