Медіаресурси, блогери й автори будь-якого корисного контенту перетворюються на сировину, на якій Facebook робить величезні гроші, але якими зовсім не бажає ділитися

"Цукерберг управляє медіакомпанією, яка транслює новини, але не має власного новинного відділу. Він керує медіакомпанією, яка — за допомогою Google — отримала левову частку коштів від цифрової реклами і позбавила сенсу бізнес-модель журналістської індустрії, при цьому проповідуючи важливість журналістики. Він управляє компанією, яка, за його словами, переконана в необхідності підтримувати незалежну журналістику, але яка не платить видавництвам за право публікувати матеріали. А ще він керує компанією, яка вирішила показувати користувачам менше новин з фахових джерел ("Це люди точно не хочуть бачити", — каже він), при цьому збільшивши частку індивідуальних думок".

Редактор The Atlantic Едрієнн Ла Франс ставить питання Цукербергу під час його бесіди з невеликою групою редакторів та керівників новинних агентств, які зібралися в Пало-Альто на зустріч під назвою "Не для запису".

Як наслідок, виходить стаття під назвою Mark Zuckerberg Doesn’t Understand Journalism. Either that, he or doesn’t care (Марк Цукерберг не розуміє журналістики. Або це так, або йому просто байдуже).

І це дуже схоже на те, про що я вже давно кажу. Професійне медіасередовище не може не реагувати на нинішній стан речей, коли Facebook фактично крок за кроком окупує весь медіапростір. Ця тенденція стала особливо очевидною після зміни алгоритму наприкінці 2017 року, перетворив стрічку новин на місце для "сім'ї та друзів" плюс, звісно, реклама від Facebook.

При цьому інші медіаресурси, блогери й автори будь-якого корисного контенту перетворюються на сировину, на якій Facebook робить величезні гроші, але якими зовсім не бажає ділитися. І справа не в тому, що це викликає заздрість. Це відбирає їхній хліб. Тепер це розуміють всі або майже всі.

Тож публікація в The Atlantic може бути тільки початком. І хоча це ще не оголошення війни, але вже все більше скидається на сформований комплекс "територіальних претензій" медіаспільноти на адресу Facebook.
