Dior выпустил рекламный ролик, посвященный новой версии мужского аромата Sauvage, и почти сразу его удалил. Общественность обвинила бренд в культурной апроприации и осудила, по их мнению, некорректную кампанию парфюма, темой которой стала жизнь коренных жителей Северной Америки.

Пользователям не понравилось, что главным героем видео стал Джонни Депп, который не является коренным индейцем, а также вовлечен в скандал с домашним насилием. Неудачной посчитали и название аромата Sauvage, которое переводится как «дикарь» - этим словом называли индейцев колонисты. Напомним, что линейка Sauvage запущена в 60-х годах прошлого века, однако индейская тема используется для кампании впервые.

При этом в пресс-релизе Dior отмечается, что ролик задумывался как высказывание в поддержку коренных народов. Бренд пригласил индейцев к участию в создании рекламы в качестве консультантов, а также снял индейских актеров в ролике.

В видео появляется индеец из резервации The Rosubud, он танцует под культовую композицию «Rumble» Линка Рэя, который на три четверти был тоже индейцем. Сам Джонни Депп официально принят в индейское племя Команчи, а его бабушка и дедушка происходят из племен Чероки и Крик.
