Російське видання "The Village" 15 січня написала статтю про "єстетіку заброшок" в окупованому Маріуполі. У колонці Льва Левченко йдеться про те, що у місто, яке на думку автора "зруйноване, завойоване та приєднане" їздять російські блогери та туристи, щоб знайти "кльові місця" для фотосесій.

Видання написало про російську блогерку KATE SNAP, яка поширює тему "російськой тоскі", цитує Лєтова та продає ювелірні прикраси з різними провокуючими лозунгами. На цей раз вона зробила фотосесію у Маріуполі на фоні багатоповерхівки, яку зруйнували війська рф.

У матеріалі автор не підтримує "естетизацію війни", проте розбомблені будівлі називає "кльовими заброшками". Це обурило як українців, так і росіян.

Наступного дня видання змінило обкладинку та назву статті, не змінюючи її зміст. А блогерка видалила усі фото. 

Поки російські блогери та ніби "не прокремлівські" видання естетизують війну та її наслідки, у Маріуполі за різними підрахунками загинуло щонайменше 22 тисячі людей. 

Після скандалу, головний редактор видання Кирило Руков приніс вибачення за недоречну та ганебну подачу матеріалу про Маріуполь.
