Pornhub заблокував доступ для користувачів у Техасі через закон штату, який вимагає від користувачів сканувати посвідчення особи для перевірки віку перед отриманням доступу до порносайтів. Про це повідомляє The Verge.

Згідно з офіційним повідомленням на сайті, Pornhub стверджує, що вимоги закону не є ефективними та не забезпечують належного захисту користувачів в інтернеті. Раніше вони заблокували доступ в інших штатах США зі схожими законодавчими вимогами.

Водночас Pornhub може стати обʼєктом уваги й у Європі. За законом Європейського Союзу про цифрові послуги (DSA), який визначає платформи для дорослих як «дуже великі онлайн-платформи», такі ресурси можуть зобовʼязати впровадити перевірку віку і видалення незаконного контенту. Pornhub вже звернувся до суду, оскаржуючи цей статус.

У вересні 2023 року Федеральний суд визнав техаський закон неконституційним, оскільки документ «містить безліч вад, які можуть обмежити гарантовані Першою поправкою до Конституції США права інтернет-користувачів і творців контенту для дорослих». Суд тимчасово заблокував закон, проте влада штату знову ввела його в дію, а в лютому 2024 року подала позов до материнської компанії Pornhub — Aylo
